For reading we had to retell the main ideas from a non fiction text. 

Then in my reading group we created a mind map together on the website Popplet to help record the main ideas.

This term the Year 2 syndicate had a fun Wheels Day!

We had to use our Elm Park School Values:

Respect: Have a caring attitude to others

=>we had to share our wheels and take turns on the course

=>we had to look after our friends if they got hurt

=>we had to bring our safety equipment for the wheels day

I Am Learning To Read O'Clock Times On An Analog Clock And A Digital Clock

I Am Learning To Read With Fluency And Expression

I need to remember to:

*think about the meaning of the words as I read  

*add expression by changing the volume, speed, and feeling in my voice

*read smoothly and quickly (not like a robot)

When I read with fluency and expression it helps me to understand the text more!

It also helps other people to understand the text more too.

I Am Learning To Write A Recount

My 100 Days Party

On Friday we had a 100 days party and we had a zero the hero song. Next we did the 100 exercises. I had to do 100 push ups and I was strong. After that all the people did 100 cupcakes. There was red, blue and yellow icing. The cupcakes looked very cool. Finally we did the glasses and cut the glasses out and coloured them in. I loved the party!

This term we have been learning our basic facts to help us with our Basic Fact-a-thon. We have been playing a game called Slide Addition on the iPad to help us learn them.

For Mother’s Day we had to write a poem in word art.

We are learning to use describing words in our writing to make it interesting. We loved making our cards in Word Art and choosing the shape, colour and font.

I am learning to answer questions about the graph. I found it tricky to read the numbers. I can ask the teacher for help or a buddy.

I am in Kiwis for reading and we have been learning to use different reading strategies. We have been learning to sound out 3 letter words.

*Sound out each letter in the word in order
*Blend the sounds together to read the word

I am learning to sound out my words. I need to practise this at home. I am getting better at sounding out.

I drew my self portrait using a sketching pencil.

I needed to think about using colours effectively by blending different pastel colours

I use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence.

I use a capital letter for the word ‘I.’

I use a capital letter for names of things.

I use a full stop at the end of a sentence.

When I grow up I want to be an artist because I like drawing.

My Reflection

I am learning to use capital letters and full stops correctly.  I was able to circle the capital letters.  I found this easy. I need to use my word card to help me write my words.
